'Jurassic World' director rumored to helm 'Star Wars: Episode IX'

Colin Trevorrow had one excellent indie comedy (Safety Not Guaranteed) and it led to him getting tapped to direct a sequel in one of the biggest film franchises of all time with Jurassic World—which impressively had the highest grossing debut of all time. Less than a month after its wide release it's been reported that Trevorrow will be moving on to something arguably even larger and more iconic in a galaxy far, far away.

Following the upcoming Episode VII – The Force Awakens, to be directed by JJ Abrams, and Episode VII, which Looper director Rian Johnson will take on, it's said that Trevorrow will be taking the reins on Episode IX. The news is expected to be officially announced by LucasFilm at Comic-Con International in San Diego today. If it's true, you can bet that Colin Trevorrow is having the best year ever.

The next entry in the franchise, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, will hit theaters on December 18 this year.
