Jeffree Star responds to Kat Von D’s allegations of stealing artwork for makeup line
July 21, 2016On July 19, famed tattoo artist Kat Von D took aim at Jeffree Star on her Instagram with a post announcing that she would no longer be associating herself with Star or his brand, saying that she “can no longer hold [her] tongue after recent events.” The two had been, according to both parties, good friends for about 10 years.
Now, Star has responded to Kat's criticisms in a lengthy video. Here is how the story played out:
Kat Von D then posted a 14-minute long video to YouTube explaining the reasoning for her post. She alleges the artwork for Jeffree Star's makeup line, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, was stolen from fellow tattoo artist B.J. Betts and used without credit or payment.
See the full video below.
Jeffree-we texted on Saturday. Should I post a screenshot of you telling me to fuck myself after asking you to pay for the artwork u stole?

Star responded to the Instagram post and allegations on Twitter.
Someone I haven't seen in over a year, wants to make a post about me. I'm yawning right now…..

Kat and I texted a few days ago after 6 MONTHS of silence. She never supported me or my brand and got distant when I launched mine.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
She accused me of something that wasn't true, so I told her to fuck off and then blocked her number. Not that juicy of a story, sorry
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
This whole situation is sad and gross. I don't need to clap back or make a video about someone's post. It's getting trite.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
Instead of feeding into negativity and internet fights, I'm going back to the real world and off to enjoy the rest of my day <3

There are 2 sides to every story. The truth will come out later today.

I'm traveling on a tour bus on @VansWarpedTour right now with bad wifi. My video response will be up later.

For everyone that is thriving off of someone else's drama, I pray that you find peace within yourself.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
I feel sorry for everyone who jumps on the bandwagon.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
The fact that so many people watch someones side and then attack, is predictable. My amazing fans and customers know the truth.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
There is no beef with BJ. We worked together in 2014 on an idea and someone else took over. Everyone's been paid. #chillout
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
I never stole my logo. Where's the receipts??? Where's the lawsuit?? I created my brand in 2014. The truth is not in her video.
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
If people spent this much time worrying about themselves, instead of sitting online for hours talking about strangers… Like damn
— Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) July 19, 2016
Kat Von D replied on Twitter with the following, stating that Betts contacted her to let her know that Star had reached out with a settlement proposal:
Jeffree. Please,do yourself a favor and stop lying. BJ texted me that you reached out w a settlement proposal an hour after I posted video..
— Kat Von D (@thekatvond) July 19, 2016
…so things are not “settled” just yet. Would it be so hard to, for once, sincerely just apologize, make things right and move on?
— Kat Von D (@thekatvond) July 19, 2016
Good luck with all that! Peace!✌

Jeffree Star has responded to these allegations in a 23-minute video. He directly combated Kat's claims that B.J. Betts' artwork was ever used for Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Furthermore, he shows viewers the text conversation that he and Kat shared.

Another chapter closed…. I have a huge launch for my brand and this won't be ruining it. Love you all
