Many were skeptical of the ink’s placement then became even more so when she dropped a music video for a Styles tribute track titled “Harry.” Now, Karter is finally setting the record straight on whether or not the tattoo is real.
Spoiler alert: It’s not. Karter dropped the news on her YouTube account with a behind-the-scenes video explaining how it all played out.
“In April of 2018, I was going through the hardest time of my life,” Karter explains in the video titled “How I rocked the entire world for $300.”
“My dog Diva died. My relationship ended. And the last thing I wanted to do was write another sad song about it. Ant saw Harry on my lockscreen and said: ‘Let’s write a song about him instead.’ So we did.”
Karter then shows her handwritten lyrics for the track before explaining the following week she directed, produced and edited a music video for $300. She then put it aside and finished the rest of her record over the next 6 months.
Realizing Styles’ birthday was on the horizon, Karter began devising how to get the track noticed. She eventually settled on the now famous face tattoo and recruiting a “celebrity tattoo artist to make it look real.”
Romeo Lacoste helped her stage the application on his Instagram story while a special effects artist actually applied it. She cops to knowing it looks ridiculous and claims “that was the point.”

Karter unleashed the photo Saturday night, with several outlets picking it up. She then followed it up with “Harry,” which she says was all part of the plan:
“Every major publication and news outlet in the world covered the story and more importantly, the song. I had your attention. ;)”
With TMZ allegedly looking for her, Karter headed to her manager’s house to hide out for three days. With media outlets hitting her up to see that tattoo in person, Karter tried to reapply it, but it didn’t exactly work out.
