UPDATE: MARCH 3, 2019, 5:59 P.M. EST

Earlier today, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman revealed he attempted to make all of our dreams come true. A fan requested getting My Chemical Romance back together for the Atlantic City date of Warped’s 25th anniversary shows, which Lyman explained he “tried.”

Now, the Warped founder is elaborating on just how cool it would‘ve been for not only fans but him as well.

“It would have been epic to have them. Remember the first time I saw them, they were traveling in a van. They played both warped and taste of chaos that year and every show was special.”

The year Lyman is referring to is 2005 where MCR joined the tour for the second year. They later headed out on Taste Of Chaos with the Used, Killswitch Engage, Senses Fail, Underoath, Saosin and more.

ORIGINAL STORY: MARCH 3, 2019, 2:30 P.M. EST

My Chemical Romance fans are some of the most dedicated fans you will ever meet. Ever since that dreaded day in 2013 when the band announced their breakup, we’ve been holding on to hope that one day they would reunite in spectacular fashion and lead the emo revival we’ve been dreaming of.

Every year rumors spark of an MCR reunion at Warped Tour, and it seems that Kevin Lyman tried making that dream come true for us at Warped’s 25th anniversary events.

So, so close.

Despite knowing deep down in our little emo hearts that it’s highly unlikely (especially given Gerard Way’s recent response to reunion rumors), MCR fans everywhere often hold their breath as the Warped Tour lineup is announced, praying to the emo lords that MCR may appear.

And every year, we’re met with disappointment that the band isn’t returning to the Warped stage.

After another MCR-less Warped lineup announcement, a few fans are still holding out hope that My Chemical Romance could be one of the special guests at this year’s events.

If anyone can get these emo icons together, it’s going to be Kevin Lyman, right?

One fan took to Twitter to ask Lyman about reuniting My Chemical Romance for the Atlantic City date.

“@KevinLyman If we can get my chemical romance back together can we please get the[m] at warped tour Atlantic City??”

To which Lyman replied, “I tried.”

WHAT.

Fans also began asking about various other bands being added to the lineup.

This isn’t the first reunion Lyman tried lining up for this year’s Warped Tour.

He recently revealed that he tried his darndest to get the Ghost Inside to play at this year’s special 25th anniversary tour.

However, the band recently revealed that they are only playing one show, and one show only, in 2019 — their comeback “Save The Date” show.

In a story with RockSound, Lyman says that while he is happy the band are back after their horrific bus accident in 2015, he is still bummed that he couldn’t book them for this year’s Warped Tour shows.

“I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried. But their manager said they were going to do their own thing. I tried. I really tried.” Lyman says. “But it’s absolutely so good to see them back. Absolutely. I’m hoping to get down and see their comeback show. And I always hold open a spot for them on the [Warped] line-up. And I’ve always said to them that they are welcome on this show.”

Recently, the Ghost Inside announced that the only date they are playing this year falls on July 13 in Los Angeles.

While the band say this will be their only show in 2019, they hope it won’t be their last.

“This is absolutely 100% the only show we will play in 2019,” The band say. “No secret warm up show the day before and no surprise tour announcement the day after. This is going to be a once in a lifetime night that we have fought for every day of our recovery. We will be joined by all of our families, friends, and those that supported us behind the scenes, and we hope that many of you will join us as well.”
