Former KISS guitarist accuses Gene Simmons of groping his wife

Ace FrehleyKISS‘ lead guitarist from their classic 1973–1982 lineup—has fired back on Facebook against fellow band co-founder Gene Simmons, the former member accusing Simmons of groping his wife while alleging that the KISS bassist and businessman slandered him to industry associates for years, as reported by USA Today and Variety.

The Facebook missive appears to be a response to a recent Guitar World interview in which Simmons and KISS’ Paul Stanley seemed open to the idea of Frehley and original drummer Peter Criss rejoining the band, a fact pointed out by Blabbermouth.net. Criss first left the band in 1980. Both he and Frehley have rejoined a handful of times since.

“Your slanderous remarks about my bad habits over the years has cost me millions of dollars,” the ex-KISS guitarist writes. “[A]nd now that I’m over 12-years sober you’re still saying I can’t be trusted to play a whole nights show!”

Frehley goes on to state that Simmons’ comments about him “have made me realize you’re just an asshole and a sex addict who’s being sued by multiple [w]omen, and you’re just trying to sweep it all under the carpet.”

The musician’s referring to accusations of sexual assault against the KISS bassist, the latest of which saw him sued for sexual battery after allegedly groping another woman, an offense Frehley says Simmons perpetrated on his own wife.

“The icing on the cake was when you groped my wife and propositioned her in Los Angeles” he writes. “I only found out about [the proposition] several weeks later. She was planning on pursuing a suit against you, but I told her to call it off!”

The two-time KISS guitarist ends the post by warning that his “gloves are off” in reaction to Simmons’ “terrible comments”.
