KISS play absurd show for no sharks, eight lucky fans on boat in Australia

When KISS first announced their concert for sharks for an intimate Airbnb experience, it seemed a bit hilarious. Why would one of the most iconic rock bands in history be performing on a boat in the middle of the sea?

Well, it turns out the band followed through and the sight is just as ridiculous as it first sounded. Read more and watch the video below.

For some backstory, as a promotion through Airbnb, eight fans would venture out to sea with KISS off the coast of southern Australia.

Taking separate boats, the band would remain onboard one vessel while the fans will be lowered beneath the water in an area that’s known for its shark activity.

KISS would then begin playing at least four songs, which fans would be able to hear through underwater speakers.

And it all happened. Unfortunately, singer Paul Stanley couldn’t make it due to sickness. Stanley’s complications from the flu caused KISS to cancel their Australian tour, which made this boat show even more special.

With Stanely out, bassist Gene Simmons took over primary vocals. Watch the newscast and performance of “Calling Dr. Love in the video below.

As you can see, not may sharks (if any) appeared to show up for the once in a lifetime opportunity. We mean, how many sharks get the opportunity to see KISS live?

“To score one of the tickets, it was a surreal moment,” fan Mark Pannenburg explained. “It was, for me, just like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and opening up that Golden Ticket. To not only go and see KISS in an extremely intimate experience out on the water but to include the shark experience with that is something pretty exciting.”

The show was for Airbnb to launch its new Animal Experiences category for the popular travel company.

KISS’ “The End of the Road” farewell tour continues in the U.S. next year. Get tickets here.
