Are Korn working backwards on their forthcoming album?

Frontman Jonathan Davis recently posted about the status of the forthcoming Korn album. The singer says that the vocals for the album are currently in the works.

However, as pointed out by Metal Injection, we don’t think much of the rest of the album has been recorded yet. Traditionally, vocals are recorded last, after instrumentals.

“I want to thank you all for your kind words over the last couple months what I’m going thru has not been easy by any means,” Davis says in an Instagram post. “You all helped make the pain bearable. In return I promise to give you my all on this amazing new @korn_official record we all can heal together. #recordingvocals”

According to Consequence of Sound, the band admitted that they may not even be done writing the album. Just one month ago, it was apparent that the band hadn’t recorded all of the instrumentals.

“At this time, guitars aren’t finished, and I don’t know if we’re done writing,” Brian “Head” Welch says. “We’ve written a lot, but I’m not sure if we’re done writing yet. Bass is not done. Most of the drums are done on the songs we have, and a little bit of vocals have been worked on.”

“We’ve got some amazing tricks up our sleeves that we haven’t done before, some fun things that the fans are going to be pleasantly surprised by,” he continues. “I know that for a fact.”

Does this mean that Korn is taking an unconventional route into making their new record?

Regardless, the forthcoming Korn album is slated to be finished by the end of the year.
