In an Alternative Press interview from 1992, Nirvana’s first national U.S. magazine cover story, Cobain spoke about his relationship with playing guitar. “I just couldn’t meet the demands of my parents,” he says. “They wanted me to be into sports and stuff like that. I couldn’t relate to people at all, so I basically hung out by myself all the time and played guitar.”

The Music Icons auction will take place May 20-22 at the Hard Rock Café in New York. It will also be live online here. Other items up for auction include a 1965 Dodge Dart owned by Cobain, as well as memorabilia from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga and more.

Additionally, some of the items will include special NFT accompaniments. For example, the Fender will come with a narrative guide to the guitar from Earnie Baily, Cobain’s guitar tech.
