Lady Gaga fans create Starbucks scam to get “Shallow” to number one

Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters are making headlines after they created a scam to get people in their community to listen to “Shallow.” The elaborate plan boasts the motive to get the A Star Is Born song to number one on Billboard Hot 100.

However, the Little Monsters didn’t go the traditional route like twenty one pilots fans did when they advocated for every song on Vessel to be certified Gold — not by a long shot. Instead, the scheme involves worldwide coffee chain, Starbucks and gullible Twitter users.

According to Fader, the Little Monsters created a fake hashtag on the social media site. By getting users to use #SHALLOWBUCKS, they told people that if they took a screenshot of them listening to “Shallow,” they would get a voucher for a free Starbucks drink.

Additionally, there was apparently a fake Spotify ad going around that told users they could potentially win a free premium membership if they streamed the song.

However, neither Spotify nor Starbucks agreed to the brand deal.

That said, Starbucks has been individually telling Twitter users that the hashtag is fake.
