Life sentence upheld for man who murdered guitarist Dave Navarro’s mother

According to the Associated Press, the 2nd District Court Of Appeal upheld the life sentence for the man (John Riccardi) who killed two Southern California women 30 years ago, including the mother of Dave Navarro, guitarist of Jane’s Addiction.

Riccardi was originally given the death penalty, but that was reducted to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He had recently tried to appeal his current sentence.

Riccardi murdered both Constance Navarro and her friend in Los Angeles, California, in March of 1983. It took around eight years for him to be captured. Read a report from Billboard below:

“Navarro’s son, Dave Navarro, played with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction. He was 15 when his mother was killed.

Riccardi originally was sentenced to death for the murders, but the California Supreme Court overturned the sentence two years ago. Riccardi was resentenced last year to life without parole.”
