Lights records acoustic rendition of “Skydiving” on a cliff

Following her latest music video for “Lost Girls” and her recent signing with Fueled By Ramen, Lights revealed behind-the-scenes footage on recording a stripped-down version of “Skydiving” from her upcoming acoustic album, Skin&Earth Acoustic.

In the video, she explains that she chose to record “Skydiving” on a cliff because the song takes place on a cliff in her comics, which also allowed her to incorporate natural ambiance to the background.

Skin&Earth, originally released in 2017 as a concept album based on her comics, serves as a soundtrack to her comic series, giving life to a story about a girl searching for hope in a post-apocalyptic world. Each track corresponds to one of the six issues in her series, adding depth to Lights’ songwriting and storytelling.

Expanding her horizons to create something more than another concept album, her upcoming release will feature acoustic renditions recorded in designated places from the comics to precisely capture the story’s essence.

Like “Skydiving,” other renditions are also recorded in different locations, including deserts, rivers and tunnels. In addition, the album will comprise seven songs from Skin&Earth with three new tracks, one of them being “Lost Girls.”

Skin&Earth Acoustic drops July 12 via Fueled By Ramen. You can check out “Skydiving” and preorder the album here.
