This week, we are getting the first taste of a new screamo band called If I Die First. The new band features Epitaph-signed artist Lil Lotus and From First To Last‘s Travis Richter.

Along with the release of “Where Needles and Lovers Collide,” the band have also debuted a cinematic new video.

Outside of his solo music, Lil Lotus is hard at work collaborating with smrtdeath and lil aaron on a new album for their alternative rap group Boyfriendz. As well, Lil Lotus is also teaming up with Richter for the new screamo band If I Die First.

Back in April, Lil Lotus spoke with AltPress about the new project. Lil Lotus is the lead vocalist for If I Die First, which also includes Nedarb, Zubin and members of Ghostemane along with Richter.

“The new band is me singing,” Lil Lotus shares. “I’m not playing an instrument or anything. Zubin sings with me, and he’s playing keys—I don’t know if a lot of people know this, but he’s an amazing pianist. Then Nedarb’s playing guitar, and he’s doing some singing, too. Then there’s Cayle [Sain], who plays drums for Ghostemane—he’s a fucking insane drummer. Then Nolan, he plays bass for Ghostemane also, he’s a fucking sick ass dude and sick ass bass player. And then this one is sick. Travis Richter is a guitar player and backup screamer with us. That’s a new [addition].”

Over the past few months, the band have been hard at work creating new music for the project.

“We all started tracking some new shit the other day, and we all put our input when we’re writing,” Lil Lotus continues. “I’ll be humming melodies, and then someone’s like, ‘That one!’ Then we’re like, ‘Yeah, that’s cool. Now we just need lyrics.’ Then someone’s like, ‘Wait! Do it like this!’ and then we’ll be like, ‘Oh shit, let’s do it like that.’ It flows perfectly. We just knocked out a new song in no time yesterday.”

Their debut EP My Poison Arms is out this Friday, July 10. The EP features six tracks including “Where Needles and Lovers Collide.” If I Die First announced the EP’s release earlier this week.

Now, the band are sharing “Where Needles and Lovers Collide” along with a brand new video. The intense debut video was directed by Max Beck and co-directed by Richter and offers the first look into what we can expect from If I Die First.
