Lil Peep track from 2015 gets official release

Lil Peep fans know and love the 2015 track “Star Shopping,” and there is some good news regarding the track.

The song was re-released on Friday along with a note from Peep’s mom Liza Womack.

“Gus actually composed the lyrics to ‘Star Shopping’ on his phone, in his Notes app, on August 16, 2015 — right after a trip to Cambridge for his grandfather’s birthday,” Womack’s statement reads. “The song wasn’t uploaded to SoundCloud until December of that year. That was Gus’s big song, as he got many views and likes on it right away — 20k in 24 hours, and over a hundred thousand in a week. He was very excited about that.

According to Genius, the song was previously unavailable due to a copyright issue with a sample used in the song, so the reboot is great news for fans.

Womack also shared the news of the track on Instagram.

In other news, a Lil Peep track will be featured on a Game Of Thrones-inspired album featuring Ty Dolla $ign. That will be released April 26.

Lil Peep’s collaboration with ILoveMakonnen and Fall Out Boy called “I’ve Been Waiting” just recently dropped with a video following later. It was one of his last collabs before passing away in November 2017.

The track is the latest content to come out of Peep’s camp following his “16 Lines” video.

Both FOB and ILoveMakonnen shared a tribute video last month for the track, but revealed the song would be getting its due diligence with its very own music video.
