Lil Peep producer teases unreleased songs from late artist

There’s a stash of unheard Lil Peep tracks lying in wait, beyond the posthumous Come Over When Your Sober, Pt. 2, according to past Peep collaborator and Pt. 2 producer Smokeasac. Lil Peep tragically died last year at the age of 21.

Smokeasac open up to the NME about his time with Peep and discusses the pair’s creative process. When asked if there’s remaining unheard material, however, the creative drops word of an upcoming Peep collab album with iLoveMakonnen.

“There’s material for sure,” reveals the producer. “I have a decent amount of songs with him and then he has music with other producers like Harry Fraud, Diplo, and then there’s an album with iLoveMakonnen. I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Smokeasac adds that he helmed “like six of the songs on the Makonnen album” and that it’s “something people can be excited about, too. It was a big change, I guess, in his energy. … and the Makonnen record is some of his best work.”

Sounds like an interesting development for Peep fans. But when will this unreleased material with Makonnen finally see the light of day? Smokeasac says the time is coming, he just has to tie up any loose ends with the late musician’s family.

“When the time is right we’ll release the stuff,” he says. “I speak to Peep’s mom all the time and I want to make sure that she approves of everything. … It’s a finished album vocals-wise but me and Makonnen will … finish everything off.”
