Linkin Park discussing “making new music together,” Joe Hahn says

Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn has reportedly revealed that the band is talking about what their future holds together.

Hahn made the statements in an interview that was transmitted by South Korea’s Yohnhap News Agency.

Hahn says the band “started talking about making new music together” after the death of vocalist Chester Bennington unexpectedly died after taking his own life in 2017.

According to Hahn, the band could make their return in the next 10 years or sooner, but nothing is for sure yet.

“I don’t want to set a deadline. We just want to focus on the present and talk about music. We aren’t discussing detailed plans. I just want to go back to those days when I made music in my garage,” he said, which was translated by Linkin Park Live.

Hahn isn’t the only bandmate discussing the future publically. Recently, Mike Shinoda made statements about bringing a new vocalist to Linkin Park following the death of Bennington. He said that if the band did decide to bring in a new vocalist, he wants it to happen naturally.

“That’s not my goal right now. I think it has to happen naturally. And if we find somebody that’s a great person, and that we think is a good personality fit and a good stylistic fit, I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody. Not for the sake of like, replacing… I wouldn’t ever wanna feel like we are replacing Chester.”

Shinoda took to Twitter to clarify that he was not saying they would replace Bennington, just that he wasn’t against the idea.

“Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I’d be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding,” the tweet reads.

“I’m not predicting the future. The future will happen. Stop making shit up.”

In other news, a YouTuber uploaded a vocals-only track for the band’s song “One More Light” featuring solely the vocals of Bennington.

Recently, Linkin Park’s debut album, which was released in 2000, re-entered the album charts for the first time in two years following what would have been Bennginton’s 43rd birthday.

The album, Hybrid Theory, just took the 191 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The album last hit the charts in July 2017, which is when the late frontman passed. At that time, many fans took to Twitter to discuss how the album changed their lives.
