The album last hit the charts in July 2017, which is when late frontman Chester Bennington unexpectedly died after taking his own life. At that time, many fans took to Twitter to discuss how the album changed their lives.

Some explanation for its re-emergence on the charts is that last week would have been late frontman Bennington’s 43rd birthday.

The album peaked on the charts in December 2002 at number 2 and in total it’s spent 230 weeks on the chart.

Now that it’s on your mind, you can listen to the album below to celebrate it’s chart re-entry.

Linkin Park aren’t alone in this resurgence of 2000s records charting in 2019. My Chemical Romance’s 2004 album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, was back on the Billboard 200, claiming the 191 spot last week.

In other news, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda clarified his statements about bringing a new vocalist to Linkin Park following the death of Bennington. He said that if the band did decide to bring in a new vocalist, he wants it to happen naturally.

“That’s not my goal right now. I think it has to happen naturally. And if we find somebody that’s a great person, and that we think is a good personality fit and a good stylistic fit, I could see trying to do some stuff with somebody. Not for the sake of like, replacing… I wouldn’t ever wanna feel like we are replacing Chester.”

Shinoda took to Twitter to clarify that he was not saying they would replace Bennington, just that he wasn’t against the idea.

“Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not looking for a new singer, and if it were to happen organically, I’d be open. Seems pretty clear, yet I guess some folks have a hard time understanding,” the tweet reads.

“I’m not predicting the future. The future will happen. Stop making shit up.”
