Linkin Park are working on new music from home right now

Linkin Park are apparently working on new music right now according to bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell but it’s all being put on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

In a new interview with online wine show Dan Really Likes Wine, Farrell tastes wine via video chat with the host and discusses how the band were working on new music prior to the global shutdown.

In the interview, the bassist says their plans are on pause over the pandemic. Despite this, he says he’s staying creative from home.

At this point right now, I think globally we’re all doing a version of the same thing, you know, trying to stay home and trying to stay as healthy as possible,” he says.

He ends up discussing the band’s process right now while also revealing they’re all still staying in contact at the moment.

“For us, with the band, we’ve been kinda writing and doing that before this all started, so casually at this point we’re doing Zoom meetings to eat lunch together and say, ‘Hi.’ But we’re not able to get together and write or do that whole bit. So working at home a little bit, working up ideas.”

I’ve been playing a lot of drums, just to do something new – I’ve been doing that for the last year, year and a half, and purposely making as much noise as possible to create my own space in the house.”

In a separate interview, he reiterates that they’re working on new material confirming things are really happening.

The band have spoken for a couple of years now about the potential for new music from them.

After late frontman Chester Bennington tragically passed away in 2017, the band have discussed the possibility of getting a new vocalist and what their future holds.

In 2018, Farrell spoke on SiriusXM saying their future moves are “a big question” and that he thinks “the easiest way to answer it is probably just to say, I don’t know. And then I can expound upon that.”

Elaborating, he said “The five of us, we still love getting a chance to hang out. We hang out quite a bit. I think we will do music again. We all want to. We all still enjoy being together and being around each other.”

Last year, Joe Hahn also ended up discussing their plans and while he said there is no hard set date for a return, they are working on music.

“I don’t want to set a deadline. We just want to focus on the present and talk about music. We aren’t discussing detailed plans. I just want to go back to those days when I made music in my garage,” he says.
