Linkin Park, the Killers among most-streamed 2000s songs

Just in case you were in need of the perfect “through the decades” playlist, the British Phonographic Industry recently revealed the most-streamed songs since 1960. Luckily for all of us, some scene favorites such as Linkin Park and the Killers topped the list in the the early 2000s.

In the year 2000, Linkin Park’s “In The End” dominated streaming charts with over 16.8 million plays. Additionally, to nobody’s surprise, the Killers’ banger “Mr. Brightside” was the most-streamed song in 2003 with over 14.6 million streams.

To put things into perspective, “Mr. Brightside” doubled in streams in comparison to other No. 1 songs visible on the chart in the early 2000s.

Additionally, by the looks of the chart, the popularity of streaming only recently started picking up speed. Prior to Keala Settle and the rest of The Greatest Showman cast’s song “This Is Me” in 2017, no song reached a billion streams.

As of 2018, the most-streamed song within a given year was in 2018 with Drake’s “God’s Plan.”
