‘Lizzie McGuire’ brings back another familiar face for Disney+ reboot
Hilary Duff has been solely responsible for the immense amounts of nostalgia unleashed on the internet as she continues to tease us with Lizzie McGuire updates. Today, the actress made a huge reveal as she confirmed a familiar face returning for the Disney+ reboot.
Following a major 2000s makeover yesterday and the return of her animated alter ego, Duff took to Instagram to share BFF Gordo is returning.

In October, Duff confirmed her original family would also be reprising their roles. Robert Carradine and Hallie Todd are returning to portray her parents while younger brother Matt will still be portrayed by Jake Thomas.
With word still out on whether Adam Lamberg and Lalaine would be reprising their roles as David ‘Gordo’ Gordon and Miranda Sanchez respectively, at least half that question has been answered.
Today, Duff took to the official Disney+ Instagram to share her excitement for the pending series. She touches on her returning family before being wholesomely interrupted by Lamberg who says, “The fam’s not complete without me. Gordo’s back.” He also makes a reference to the film spin-off’s classic “What Dreams Are Made Of” before debuting the new series’ logo. Check it out below.
Disney+ then shared an additional image of the duo followed by Duff’s personal post. “I feels so basic saying something that’s been shouted at me almost my whole life buuuut……hey now, hey now✨,” she shared.

The original series premiered Jan. 21, 2001. It ran for two seasons, consisting of 65 episodes, before ending in 2004. The show was also adapted into a full-length feature film, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, in 2003.
Following the series’ end in 2004, Lamberg appeared in two flims: Beautiful Loser in 2005 and When Do We Eat? in 2008. He quit acting and graduated from UC Berkley with a bachelor’s degree in Geography that same year. As of 2014, he worked at the Irish Arts Center in New York City as a developmental associate.
No release date has been set for the forthcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot, but Disney+ is available now here.

Adults everywhere lost it when news broke that Duff would be reprising her role as Lizzie McGuire for a Disney+ reboot. First rumored at the end of last year, the reboot plans were confirmed at D23 Expo in August.
Obviously just as excited as us, Duff has been sharing teasers across her Instagram feed.
The original series and spin-off feature film dominated the early 2000s, in turn giving us a time capsule of legendary decade-appropriate looks. Between Duff as McGuire and Lalaine as BFF Miranda Sanchez, the show highlighted some iconic hairstyles including crimps, color and beyond.
While we’re still pulling for Bad Girl McGuire to make a return, Duff gave us a peek of a classic look from the series with the return of her bangs. This week, an image of the new look made its way to the actress’ Instagram story followed by its official debut on her feed.
She shared an image directly from filimg where she’s rocking those new bangs and wearing a throwback Lisa Frank tee.
The original run of Lizzie McGuire followed the titular character throughout her teen years, expressing her real thoughts and emotions through an animated alter ego. While we know Duff will be returning alongside her original casted family, not much else was revealed about that animated alter ego until now.
This month, Duff opened up about returning to the role with Entertainment Tonight, explaining part of the perks is delving into the same challenges she experiences in real-life. “That was part of the draw for me for coming back was the struggles that I feel as a 30-year-old,” Duff says.

“She has gained a lot of confidence and she has a really cool career,” Duff continued. “She’s still going to be faced with challenging things, where, in middle school, those challenging things seemed simple and funny but relatable at the time. Now, in your 30s, it’s gonna be the same way but slightly heavier. [She’ll have] slightly bigger things to deal with.”
“I think it’s really gonna be fun to go on the journey with her at 30,” Duff added. “It’s the same Lizzie, but as an adult.”
While Duff will be giving us a look into the world of McGuire in her 30s, one thing that will not be changing is the animated alter ego. “She’s gonna stay the same,” Duff says. “She has an epic return and I am so excited. She’s really gonna be a lot of the comic relief in the show.”
