Lonely Island, Seth Rogen's Fyre Festival spoof film is still in the works

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard SOMETHING about the infamous Fyre Festival. From meme legend Andy King to the absolutely terrible pizza being served, it seemed like everything that could have gone wrong, did. But one person’s failed festival could easily become someone else’s spoof film thanks to Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island.

The idea for a spoof film based off the festival was first mentioned back in 2017, not long after the festival took place, er, didn’t take place.

Rogen jumped on Twitter to say, “This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes HORRIBLY WRONG.”

The Lonely Island chimed in with, “For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea.”

Not much has been heard about the project since then, until Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast that the film is still in the works.

“Oh yeah. I don’t want to divulge all the details but we’re figuring it out right now. You’ve seen the docs, right? It’s crazy. This is something that Akiva and Seth cooked up, and we’re figuring it all out right now.”

Taccone admits that he’s a HUGE fan of the Netflix film, having already watched it three times now. He’s also a massive fan of Fyre Festival’s Andy King, but really, who isn’t?

“I was like, I would hire that dude for anything… Hire that dude! That guy is a champion.”

We couldn’t agree more.

While there’s no release date for the spoof-version of the festival yet, we’re definitely keeping our eyes peeled.
