Mac Miller's cause of death revealed

The cause of death of Mac Miller last month has been ruled an accidental overdose, according to a toxicology report issued by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office. A combination of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol were found in Miller’s system, as reported by Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, which caused the rapper’s tragic death at the age of 26.

Following the artist’s unexpected passing on Sept. 7, many musicians offered their condolences to Miller’s family and fans, a cache of performers remembering the rapper for his killer tracks, energetic live performances and effervescent spirit. Ariana Grande penned a heartfelt tribute, and Lil Xan even expressed a desire to get sober.

“Ask your friends how they’re doing,” reminded All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth. “Ask people how they’re doing. Check in.” blink-182‘s Travis Barker echoed the sentiment with a throwback Instagram photo: “Rest In Peace to one of the coolest, gone way too soon,” the drummer captioned the image. “This is heartbreaking, you will be missed.”

A tribute event held Oct. 31, dubbed “Mac Miller: A Celebration Of Life,” featured performances from Chance The Rapper, SZA, Vince Staples, ScHoolboy Q and more. The benefit was organized by Miller’s estate, with all proceeds going to the Mac Miller Circles Fund in partnership with the Pittsburgh Foundation to provide programming and resources to kids and teenagers from underprivileged communities.
