Earlier this month, Machine Gun Kelly offered another taste of his highly-awaited pop-punk album Tickets To My Downfall with “my ex’s best friend.” The new track features friend and longtime collaborator blackbear.

Since its release, “my ex’s best friend” has shot to the No.1 spot on Billboard’s Rock Streaming Songs chart. According to Nielsen Music, the single earned 6.2 million U.S. streams from its release on Aug. 7 to Aug. 13.

The single is the first new release to accomplish this feat in nearly four months. twenty one pilots’ “Level Of Concern” technically held the No.1 spot since April 25.

Since the debut of “Level Of Concern,” the No. 1 spot was exchanged between the twenty one pilots single and Journey‘s “Don’t Stop Believin‘.” In that span, however, “Level Of Concern” held the top spot for four weeks while “Don’t Stop Believin'” held it for 13.

“my ex’s best friend” is the first Rock Streaming Songs No. 1 for both Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear. The latest single is also at the No.7 spot on Alternative Streaming Songs chart.

Earlier this week, “The Hype,” off of Trench, was certified Gold. “The Hype” now joins “Jumpsuit,” “My Blood” and “Nico And The Niners” which are all also certified Gold. “Chlorine” surpassed its Gold certification and is now Platinum.

As well, shortly following the release of “Level of Concern,” the single shot to No.1 on Billboard’s Alternative Song Chart. This accomplishment marks the seventh, yes seventh, twenty one pilots song to reach the No.1 spot. This also puts twenty one pilots in seventh place for most songs to reach the top of the chart. Red Hot Chili Peppers hold the top spot with 13 No. 1’s.
