Machine Gun Kelly clearly took a risk with his genre switch for Tickets To My Downfall and it seems to have paid off. Tickets To My Downfall sold a staggering 126,000 copies in its first week, 63,000 of which were pure sales, earning him the coveted spot at the top of the Billboard 200.

Last week, early reports predicted that MGK would snag the No.1 chart spot, but would only sell between 80,000 – 90,000 equivalent albums. His fanbase, however, did their part this week and helped Tickets To My Downfall sell 36,000 more copies than originally predicted.

This is the first No.1 chart debut for Machine Gun Kelly. His last album Hotel Diablo debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. His highest-ever chart debut prior to Tickets To My Downfall was No.4 which he achieved with both General Admission and Lace Up.

Tickets To My Downfall is also his first album to both appear on the Top Rock Albums Chart and go straight to No.1. All of his previous LPs appeared within the Top 10 of the Top Rap Albums Chart including General Admission which peaked at No.1.

Since the initial reports about MGK’s career milestone with Tickets To My Downfall, he has been anxiously awaiting the news all week.

Then, the news was finally confirmed on Sunday. MGK got the phone call while driving, but that clearly didn’t stop him from celebrating. He shared a video of him reacting to his latest career milestone on his Instagram story.

As he further shares on Twitter, his chart-topping debut has been a long time coming in his career.

Now that Tickets To My Downfall’s No.1 spot has been secured, MGK is planning to celebrate this accomplishment as much as possible. He recently enjoyed a cake made to look like his iconic hot pink guitar.

Over the weekend, he also celebrated Tickets To My Downfall by smashing the front window of friend and collaborator Mod Sun’s car.

Even though Tickets To My Downfall is out, MGK still has plenty of things in store. He recently confirmed that he and Halsey are shooting a video for their new collab “forget me too” and it looks like it was filmed over the weekend.

Machine Gun Kelly managed to rack in a few other chart accomplishments before Tickets To My Downfall was even released. His lead single “bloody valentine” earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song chart.

As well, blackbear and Machine Gun Kelly dethroned twenty one pilots’ “Level Of Concern” on the Billboard’s Rock Streaming Songs chart with “my ex’s best friend.”
