Machine Gun Kelly updates pop-punk LP ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ release

We finally have a new update in the saga of Machine Gun Kelly‘s formerly rock, now pop-punk album. Considering our last bit of news was on Jan. 30, this new snippet comes just in time to ease our concerns.

Machine Gun Kelly took to social media to announce that he has pushed back Tickets To My Downfall until this summer.

We’ll start from the top to get everyone caught up. First teased as a rock album amid studio sessions with Travis BarkerblackbearGoody GraceMod Sun and more, Machine Gun Kelly has been teasing fans with Tickets To My Downfall since December.

MGK then corrected it two weeks later.

Then after a video or two of more teases, MGK dropped the album name.

MGK and Barker previously worked together alongside YUNGBLUD on Hotel Diablo track “I Think I’m OKAY.” Embracing that chemistry once again, MGK revealed the vocalist will return for this album.

Kelly also revealed other previous collaborators blackbear, Trippie Redd and Young Thug will be joining him on the new project. MGK didn’t stop there, though, stating his wish list of collabs included Attila frontman Fronz and the Used vocalist Bert McCracken. Well, Machine Gun Kelly got one wish granted in the form of McCracken. The footage was shared of him in the studio killing it.

Fans began wondering when we would be getting the much-anticipated album. MGK answered that question saying it would hit in early 2020 between January and March.

On Jan. 30, we saw a clip of MGK at Interscope Records dancing on a table while playing what should be assumed is a clip of Tickets To My Downfall. The Cleveland-born rapper can’t help but get down, so you know it has to be good. The clip of the song we hear says “Damn!/I saw you walk in the room and I tried my best.” Whether that is his best Bugs Bunny impression or something more serious we’ll find out soon. Watch the video below.

The clip sounds incredibly punchy and spirited, reminiscent of the pop-punk of yore.

Now, in a story posted to his instagram, Machine Gun Kelly shows that we can expect Tickets To My Downfall this summer. The video shows MGK’s hand showin off his trippy fingernails with text spread out saying, “Tickets To My Downfall This Summer.” Check it out below.

Well at least this news quells the anticipation a bit. With the end of the first quarter of 2020 rapidly approaching, we were thinking MGK would just shock us with a surprise drop. Now we have plenty of time to recompose and prepare for one incredible album.

More Machine Gun Kelly

Machine Gun Kelly has been hyper-busy. Between finishing up his highly-anticipated pop-punk album Tickets To My Downfall, playing shows and launching new merch, it seems like the crossover rapper doesn’t get much time to just sit back and relax.

Well, now it seems his buddies and “I Think I’m OKAY” collaborators are making sure he can’t relax either. Judging by social media posts, YUNGLBLUD and Travis Barker seem to have pranked Machine Gun Kelly on MTV‘s Punk’d.

For those either too young or living under a rock in the early 2000s, Punk’d was/is a show created by Ashton Kutcher and MTV. It originally started as a show pranking everyday average people but after a high priced lawsuit, the show shifted gears to prank celebrities.

Some of the more famous pranks include convincing Justin Timberlake his mansion was being seized by the government and stealing Frankie Muniz’s custom Porsche.

Punk’d is also famous for being rebooted a number of times. The original show ended in 2007. In 2010, a reboot was announced where Justin Bieber would replace Kutcher as the host. That reboot ended in 2012.

Following that, BET rebooted the show under Katalyst Media which premiered in 2015. Then, it was announced that in 2020 another reboot would be taking place on the mobile video platform Quibi. It is to be hosted by Chance The Rapper. This apparently leads us to Machine Gun Kelly.

Over this past weekend, Travis Barker posted to his Instagram story a photo with a sign saying “you got PUNK’D.” The text says “stay tuned….this was amazing to witness.” YUNGBLUD and Machine Gun Kelly were tagged in the post.

Next, Machine Gun Kelly tweeted at YUNGBLUD and MTV.

@yungblud ok fine u guys got me good !!! ??‍♂️ @MTV

YUNGBLUD shared the tweet laughing about the situation.

But, as of now, there is not other news regarding when we will see the prank or even what it is. Hopefully, we’ll find out soon.
