Last summer, MGK revealed he was working with Travis Barker on Born With Horns, the follow-up to his 2020 record, Tickets To My Downfall. He then released the track “papercuts” to give fans a taste of what’s to come.

“Every album is a juxtaposition of the last album,” MGK explains, according to NME. “So I went and studied Tickets, and I heard the bright sound that I had, and for this [new] album I just turned the lights off.

“I’m not scared anymore. There’s nothing holding me back from being my true self – and my true self can’t be silenced, can’t be restrained. It’s a force. It’s like a hurricane. Can’t stop that. It just goes until it feels like stopping, and I don’t feel like stopping anytime soon.”

There was speculation that MGK might drop Born With Horns on New Year’s Eve, 2021, but he squashed the rumors on Twitter. Two days later (Jan. 2), he went back to social media to simply write, “two albums this year.”

Outside of music, MGK plays a bank robber in the Wild West for the new movie The Last SonCheck out a trailer for the film here.
