Yesterday, many people crowded around their televisions to watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the hopes to see some interesting balloons and memorable performances.

Unfortunately, Macy’s annual parade didn’t go exactly as planned when many fans noticed that something wasn’t quite right with the day’s performances.

If you did watch the parade, you may have noticed that many of the artists there were having some difficulties during their performances, but not the usual kind of it being too cold or their float doing something weird.

Oh no, these difficulties mainly dealt with the fact that many of the performers were having to lip sync in order to get through their set, a common problem that plagues the parade year-round.

While this isn’t exactly new, Twitter users quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter:

The teasing of the parade quickly turned to one performer in particular, as many fans had an issue with Rita Ora’s performance, where she was caught lip-syncing to her song “Let You Love Me.”

John Legend quickly came to her defence, where he shared a fun fact:

“Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance. Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!”

That’s not the only person who came to everyone’s defence, All Time Low‘s frontman Alex Gaskarth also decided to chime in on the matter, where he defended all the acts during yesterday’s performance:

He then went on to explain to a fan that it’s almost impossible to have live audio with a setting like the Macy’s parade.

The teasing got so bad that Macy’s had to issue a statement, where they explained that many of the artists there experienced some “technical difficulties” that “negatively impacted” them during their performances.

“During today’s NBC broadcast of the Macy’s Parade, several recording artists experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance,” the company wrote in a tweet. “We apologize and want fans to know these issues were out of the artist’s control.”
