MAKEOUT frontman leaves band

MAKEOUT frontman parts ways with band, leaves future unknown

MAKEOUT frontman Sam Boxold has announced that he is leaving the band. In an Instagram post, the vocalist and guitarist says that the toxicity and the negative impact of touring have taken a toll on him.

In the post, Boxold reveals that he knew he was leaving the band since the beginning of December. Following the conclusion of the band’s 20/20 tour, Boxold has decided it has come time to lay his position with MAKEOUT to rest.

“I have been stuck in a pretty toxic loop for some years trying to do this project,” Boxold says in the post. “Though many of you have given me wonderful memories, I have overwhelming negativity surrounding touring and “band life”. I will never take for granted the opportunity to flesh out this dream; But this life just isn’t for me.”

In a series of tweets, the remaining members of the band confirm Boxold’s news. Additionally, when responding to a fan asking if they are breaking up entirely, MAKEOUT didn’t have a definitive answer.

While there is a possibility that MAKEOUT may be coming to an end, Boxold still intends on creating new music.

“Though this is the end for one chapter, I am going to continue making music, as well as creating art of all kinds,” Boxold continues in the Instagram post. “I have my own version of “big plans” that I hope will help me find my voice again. I can’t express my appreciation for everyone who has supported me through this, and I wish luck to the other dudes in their endeavors.”

The frontman then says that while he will not be able to respond to fans’ questions today, he is open to tying up loose ends over the weekend.

Last year, the band’s song “Secrets” received a lot of backlash from fans and other bands in the scene, with many ruling that its lyrics were problematic.
