Marilyn Manson is not Randall Flagg in 'The Stand' and fans are confused

Back in July, it was reported that Marilyn Manson would appear in the Stephen King adaptation of The Stand.  The series is based on the book that was previously adapted back in 1994. Many fans firmly believed he would play the demonic Randall Flagg, but that appears to not be the case.

As it turns out, Alexander Skarsgård will play Flagg in the upcoming adaptation, leaving fans utterly confused about who the hell Manson will be portraying.

Previously, showrunner James Boone confirmed some of the casting for the new series on Instagram. It’s been revealed that James Marsden will play Stu Redman, Amber Heard will be Nadine Cross, Henry Zaga will play Nick Andros and Odessa Young is Frannie Goldsmith.

Along with those cast members, it was revealed that Manson would have a role, which he recently discussed with Revolver. As part of his role, he will cover The Doors track “The End” for the series.

While there was no confirmation as to who Manson was playing, many fans hopes to see him take on the role of Flagg.

Now, according to ColliderSkarsgård is preparing for the role of Mr. Randall Flagg.

So who the hell is Manson playing?

We first learned about the series last year, and a release date has yet to be announced. We’ll have to wait and for more news about the series, but 10 episodes will air on CBS All Access.

The series’ synopsis reads:

“The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.”
