Marshmello, Bastille sued over alleged copyright infringement
Marshmello and Bastille are getting sued by ARTY for alleged copyright infringement.
ARTY is claiming that the song “Happier” by the duo stole from his remix of “I Lived” by One Republic, according to TMZ.

ARTY, real name Artem Stoliarov, claims that 19 of the first 20 notes in the melody of “Happier” are the exact same as in his remix. If you want to hear what he’s talking about, start listening to 1:49 in the video below for the part in “I Lived” and 0:49 in the video for “Happier.”
ARTY alleges he is an acquaintance of the EDM artist as they play at similar venues and that Marshmello recently saw him perform the “I Lived” remix at a show.
ARTY released his remix in 2014, while “Happier” dropped last year.
His lawyer is Richard Busch. He won a case against Robin Thicke and Pharrell for their song “Blurred Lines.”
Marshmello has also come under fire recently by CHVRCHES, who called out the producer for working with Chris Brown.
“We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown,” they wrote on Twitter. “We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”

Since then, the band has had to up security at their gigs after receiving several threats from Brown’s fans for threatening them in various ways.

Brown’s list of controversies includes the felony assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna and numerous weapons charges. Also, he has an ongoing lawsuit regarding an alleged rape in Paris.
