Marvel fans are as confused as you are over #MarvelIsOverParty trending
For all those Marvel fans out there that haven’t been on Twitter lately, the hashtag #MarvelIsOverParty is currently trending. Why? Well, many MCU fans are still trying to figure that out.
Avid fans of Marvel are currently flooding the hashtag with all of the things they wish the franchise had done and would do in the future. However, some believe the hashtag may have started over reports that the highly-awaited Black Widow isn’t getting a theatrical release. Others think it all has to do with Marvel pairing with Fortnite.

On Thursday, Marvel fans were shocked when they went on Twitter to see #MarvelIsOverParty as one of the top trends. After aimlessly scrolling through the hashtag, however, all they could find were critiques on how the franchise has played out storylines in various films.
Some fans used the opportunity to call out the MCU’s past history of whitewashing its characters.
“Maybe if the MCU listened and didn’t whitewash and erase Wanda and Pietro’s judaism we wouldn’t be having this problem,” @Transbillykplan tweets.

Now, it looks there are a few possible reasons why the #MarvelIsOverParty hashtag began trending.
It was recently announced that Marvel is pairing with Fortnite for its new release. If you buy the game’s new Battle Pass, you’ll be able to unlock iconic character skins such as Iron Man, Storm, Doctor Doom, Groot, Mystique and She-Hulk.
This latest partnership has definitely earned some backlash from Marvel fans.
not dc releasing all these trailers and promos for their upcoming films whilst the only thing marvel has done is announce another collab with fortnite…I hate it here pic.twitter.com/VVMbOmbPKS

face it, fortnite will NEVER be good again, because they have completely run out of ideas. hence the new battle pass being all marvel. it’s so lazy… #FortniteSeason4

I love you Marvel, but you gotta give us something other than fortnite shit. DC is kinda kicking your ass rn in terms of getting people exciting for something. @Marvel #marvelisoverparty

For collabing with Fortnite. Gosh theyre so money hungry. First Disney milk the cash out of our beloved characters and ruin them. They also ruined Hulk, Spiderman, killed Iron Man and Cap and made Thor fat. Everything for comedy sake. DC have a better lineup.— chrisqueme (@chrisqueme7) August 27, 2020
The other reason for the trending hashtag could have to do with Black Widow. The highly-awaited film has been postponed various times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, it is being speculated that the film won’t hit theaters at all. Instead, just like Disney‘s live-action Mulan, Black Widow could head directly to Disney+, skipping a theatrical release altogether.
This rumor, along with the fact that no trailer has been released yet, has definitely caused some Black Widow fans to tweet their thoughts.

A lot of fans think Marvel has dropped the ball in terms of rolling out content for its upcoming films. This is especially true since DC is rolling out trailers for films that won’t be released for a year or two including Matt Reeves‘ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.
maybe if you actually dropped content like DC did you wouldn’t be in this situation…
also you need to cast Daisy Ridley as Spider Woman #marvelisoverpartypic.twitter.com/WqZz5xeA39

I’m kinda annoyed that marvel hasn’t made a response since DC Fandome was a success. Like come on you can’t give us like a bone or something. #marvelisoverparty

#marvelisoverparty seriously?! Listen just because DC has been doing some impressive stuff as of late. Marvel has been killing it over the last 10 years but if I am honest, I’m BLESSED to live in an era where I’m seeing Superheroes stories come to life via TV, Film and games. 1/2
