This new single is the product of many days of teasing, including odd videos and even a new logo. It all began with this strange video posted on Jan. 21 which gives us absolutely no information yet still gets us very excited about a new Mastodon album.

Over the next several days, the band posted three more videos each one featuring a different member of the band. Check those out below.

Finally, the teasing stopped and we got to hear the first single, “Sultan's Curse.”

Drummer Brann Dailor revealed to Rolling Stone in December that the new album involves cancer.

“It's about going through cancer, going through chemotherapy and all the things associated with that. I didn't want to be literal about it. But it's all in there. You can read between the lines,” says Dailor.

Emperor of Sand is produced by Brendan O’Brien who's worked on some amazing albums in the past, including My Chemical Romance's Danger Days and Rage Against The Machine's The Battle of Los Angeles.

The new album will be released on March 31 but you can already preorder some amazing bundles here. Our favorite preorder has to be the one featuring the vinyl jacket that you color in yourself. It also features a box of Mastodon colored pencils, because why not? Check out what the vinyl jacket looks like below!
