However, on stage, he gave a very different statement when joking to the crowd.

“Here’s something from the past, a guitar solo,” he told the crowd while playing.

However, after, he explained his love of guitar music.

“I think I was joking. I hope I’m joking … because I think as long as guitar music is interesting, then it’s still relevant,” he said to BBC when he got off stage.

“We’re all music obsessives. There are really interesting guitar bands around like Black Midi and Pale Waves,” he said. “I think as long as guitar music is interesting, then it’s still relevant.”

More news about the 1975

Healy recently gave a passionate speech about women’s rights and the Alabama abortion ban during the band’s performance in Alabama at Hangout Fest.

Luckily, someone captured the entire speech on video which you can watch below.

In lighter news, Healy also recently apologized to K-Pop supergroup BTS for an unusual reason. According to Healy, the bands are staying at the same hotel and just so happen to be in the rooms next to each other—which apparently required an apology on behalf of the 1975.

Both the 1975 and BTS are currently touring the U.S. and evidently ended up being hotel neighbors yesterday, according to Healy.

“Hey @bts_bighit you’re in the hotel room next to me just wanted to say that the weed smell and the chicken in the corridor is 100% George and not me,” Healy writes on Twitter.
