Matty Healy gives intense speech on abortion ban at the 1975 Alabama set

A lot of people are rightfully pissed about Alabama’s abortion ban, and now the 1975‘s Matty Healy has spoken out.

Healy gave a passionate speech about women’s rights and the ban during the band’s performance in Alabama.

Luckily, someone captured the entire speech on video which you can watch below.

“The reason I’m so angry is because I don’t believe [the ban] is about the preservation of life, I believe it’s about the controlling of women,” says Healy.

Healy continued, saying “you know what else is important? Freedom for women to do with their reproductive organs what they want.”

In case you haven’t heard, Alabama recently made all abortions illegal at any stage of pregnancy.

Bishop Briggs and grandson agreed to donate some of their Hangout Fest earnings to the Yellowhammer Fund, an organization actively helping people offset abortion costs in the state of Alabama.
