Mayhem Festival addresses 2020 lineup leak: “The rumors are not true”

After rumors of a Megadeth and Lamb Of God co-headlining Mayhem Festival started circulating, organizers from the festival are clarifying that that isn’t what they have planned.

The festival’s Facebook page has a statement saying they “have something completely different in mind” for this summer.

The festival’s page posted the following message regarding the rumors.

“The rumors are not true. We love Megadeth & Lamb Of God but have something completely different in mind for you later this year.”

The annual touring festival was started in 2008 by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and his Taste of Chaos partner John Reese.

In the wake of poor ticket sales, Reese announced the tour’s end the day after its final stop in Dallas, Texas in 2015.

Late last year though, the Mayhem Festival Instagram account became active yet again giving metal fans hope that something new was happening.

Then yesterday, DJ Nick Fury reportedly posted a leak of the lineup along with a rumored tour date. Now though, he’s clarifying he didn’t mean Mayhem Festival.

Kevin Lyman has also shared with AltPress that he “doesn’t have any role” in the festival’s relaunch. Reese is also not involved.

So for now, we know Mayhem Festival is planning something unrelated to Lamb Of God and Megadeth. Going back to Fury’s original post, we can also expect a full tour announcement soon regarding Lamb Of God and Megadeth.
