Mest meet Kickstarter goal towards new album
Mest reached the funding goal for their new album after asking for support from fans via Kickstarter.
Frontman Tony Lovato opened the campaign in late March, specifying that the band wished to stay independent and required some extra funds to release the record in a timely manner.

This would be the first music from the band’s original lineup in 14 years, the last effort being Photographs in 2005.

Lovato explained the situation in the Kickstarter’s mission statement, stressing his desire to release the album on their own.
“As you all know MEST has been independent for years and we are choosing to keep it that way. At this point in our career having the bands fate in our hands makes the most sense to us. The business has changed drastically over the past decade and with the business changing so does how bands operate. We have decided to do this record and release it on our own because we believe its the best thing for MEST,” the Kickstarter page reads.
The band offered multiple levels of rewards to backers, including throwback cassettes, merch, signed copies of the new album and more.
If you were able to swing a donation of $4,500 or more, Lovato plans to fly to your venue of choice for a private acoustic show.
At the Kickstarter’s completion today, the band raised a total of $54,227, eclipsing their initial goal of $50,000 from 939 backers.
Fans are excited to see the band working on new music, especially after a scary incident in January during their tour with Reel Big Fish.
The band were involved in a car accident due to weather conditions while on their way to Fargo from Missoula, Montana. However, none of the members appeared to have any serious injuries at the time.
Luckily, the accident didn’t involve any other drivers. The band’s trailer also popped off during the event, which ultimately prevented further damages.
Mest will join Bowling For Soup and on sale nowReel Big Fish on the second half of their co-headline tour in July. Tickets are with dates below.
