As noted on the MetallicaTV video, the embryonic version of “Master Of Puppets” was recorded “in the garage at the Carlson House, El Cerrito, California, in late June 1985.” Master Of Puppets, the tune's namesake album and the band's third LP, came out in March of 1986.

For those paying attention, that would mean Master Of Puppets' 30th anniversary was last year. But no matter, Metallica will commemorate the occasion here and now when the album's remastered, deluxe box set and 3-CD expanded edition hits on Nov. 10. Pre-order it here.

Consequence Of Sound reports that the deluxed edition Master Of Puppets will include “an array of unreleased demos, rough mixes, interviews, and live recordings. Additional contents include Jason Newstead’s demo tape (!), a 108-page hardcover book featuring never before seen photos, outtakes and previously unreleased interviews, a cassette tape, two DVDs, a lithograph, a folder with handwritten lyrics, and a set of six buttons.”

Watch Metallica frontman James Hetfield unbox the damn thing right here, and get your mid-'80s “Master Of Puppets” groove on directly below.
