Fan unearths elementary school Metro Station diary entry, is all of us

The year is 2008. Bruno Mars is surprised to see Pete Wentz, and neon pop punk is at the forefront of the scene.

Metro Station were among the leaders of the subgenre, having formed in 2006 when members Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus met on the set of Hannah Montana, a show their respective siblings Mitchel Musso and Miley Cyrus starred in.

Soon after formation, the band signed to Columbia and released their self-titled debut full-length in late 2007. Nearly a year later, they dropped their third single from the record, “Shake It,” and the rest is history.

The single was hard to escape, so it’s no surprise an unsuspecting 9-year-old would be impacted by the track to the point it became worthy of a diary entry. The problem, however, is that the writer thought it was Fall Out Boy.

A screenshot of Twitter user @jwitzsighlol’s entry resurfaced on Tumblr, complete with butterfly paper. The entry reads:

“Oh man! Guess what? I have this song stuck in my head. It goes like this, ‘Oh she touchs [sic] like this and u touch her right back. She moves like this, and u move like that. Shake Shake Shake Shake uh Shake it.’ Something like that. It’s probably Fall Out Boy. Idk. Anyway.”

Given the running joke that Fall Out Boy have an endless amount of misheard lyrics, we’re not totally surprised the pre-teen would make the mistake.
