Michael Jackson is getting an insane musical told by a talking glove

Michael Jackson has faced a lot of controversies, particularly in the last year, but his work is still being explored and it’s likely never been looked at in the way it is now.

The King of Pop is getting a musical written about him which Johnny Depp will produce about his life. The catch though is it’s being told from the perspective of a talking, singing version of his iconic glove.

The ridiculous musical is being led by Julien Nitzberg and has an equally amazing title. For the Love of Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, as Told by His Glove.

According to Page Six, the production will “look into the strange forces that shaped Michael and the scandals that bedeviled his reputation”

It also features actors alongside puppets of the Jackson 5, Donny Osmond, Emmanuel Lewis, Corey Feldman and Bubbles the Chimp.

The explanation for how the story came together at least provides some sort of rationale behind the idea.

“I’m known for writing a lot of biopics,” Nitzberg tells Page Six. “A major TV network wanted me to write a [Jackson] movie… but the question came up [about] how to deal with the child-abuse allegations.

“I said, how’s this? Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space [and] feeds on virgin boy blood. They laughed and said, ‘Can you do the normal version?’ It was morally kind of repugnant to me to do… I turned down a really big paycheque.”

For the Love of Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, as Told by His Glove is set to premiere in Los Angeles on January 25. Tickets can be bought here.
