Mike Shinoda, Jared Leto, Pearl Jam join mental health broadcast
Artist-packed "I'm Listening" awareness special airs Sept. 9August 27, 2018
Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda, Thirty Seconds To Mars‘ Jared Leto and members of Pearl Jam will join the crusade to raise mental health awareness and prevent suicide as part of Entercom’s upcoming “I’m Listening” radio broadcast.
Airing across the United States to start Suicide Prevention Week on Sunday, Sept. 9, the two-hour live broadcast will highlight personal stories from artists and bands in an effort to end the stigma of talking about mental health.
The commercial-free show — hosted by 99.9 FM KISW’s BJ Shea — will also feature appearances from Stone Temple Pilots, Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins, singer/songwriter Charlie Puth and Olympian Michael Phelps.
The live special will feature call-in opportunities and resources to help combat the growing trend of depression and suicide. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S., according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
Tune into the “I’m Listening” broadcast live at 7 a.m. local time on Sept. 9. You can also hear it via the Radio.com app. Be sure to check out last year’s “I’m Listening” broadcast right here, and visit the organization on Twitter and Instagram.
