Here’s tangible proof that dreams come true. From back when @gerardway was a kid -creating fantastic worlds on diner placemats, to creating fantastic worlds on @netflixwith @umbrellaacad – everything is possible. Congratulations @gerardway & @gabriel_ba ! You did it,” the caption reads. We are sobbing.

The series is based off of comics written by Gerard. Back in July 2017, we caught wind that The Umbrella Academy could potentially be getting a Netflix adaptation. A few days later, Way confirmed the series was headed to Netflix.

The first official trailer dropped in December, and you can check that out below.

Ellen Page will play Vanya, the black sheep of her dysfunctional family of superheroes, known as the Umbrella Academy. The rest of the dysfunctional family include Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Vanya (Page), Klaus (Robert Sheehan) and Number Five (Aidan Gallagher). The story follows the family as they “work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.”

Steve Blackman will take the executive producer role, with Jeremy Slater writing the pilot script. Way will serve as co-executive producer, Deadline explains. The series has also been confirmed for 10 episodes.

The Umbrella Academy hits Netflix Feb. 15, 2019.
