'Minions' grabs No. 2 weekend opening of all time for an animated film with $115.2 million debut

Minions had an exceptional opening weekend, but is anyone really surprised? The Despicable Me prequel at the center of the cultural phenomenon that is Minions grabbed the second most successful opening weekend for an animated film of all time this weekend, with an impressive $115.2 million debut in the U.S. The film only trails Shrek The Third, which opened with $122.5 million.
