The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is on track for a record-setting performance as it's being reported that it's selling better than Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 which previously held the record for the best selling stand alone launch title, and now the popular Zelda series might be coming to smartphones according to a new report from the Wall Steet Journal.

WSJ reports that this Zelda mobile game would come after the release of Animal Crossing's mobile game. Nintendo revealed in a recent financial report that Animal Crossing wouldn't be released until 2018 writing, “To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.”

Nintendo has currently released two mobile gaming apps with Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. EuroGamer reported in March that Super Mario Run had been downloaded over “more than 78 million times.” However, it was also reported that only around 4 million people bought the in-app purchase to unlock all 6 worlds. It costs $9.99 to unlock the entire Super Mario Run game.

Riding on the success of Pokémon Go, WSJ also reported that The Pokémon Company is in the planning stages of a new card game app. There hasn't been any other news regarding this card game app making us believe that it must be in the very early planning stages.
