Mod Sun first teased “Stay Away” back in December by releasing a clip of MGK’s verse. Then, as the coronavirus pandemic began, Mod Sun decided to further tease the single. In March, he told fans that he would only release the collab if they practiced social distancing and wore masks.

Finally, the song premiered in April after various photos of MGK, Mod Sun and Goody Grace in the studio together were unveiled. Since its release, “Stay Away” has been viewed on YouTube over 384,000 times and has earned over 5.7 million streams on Spotify.

For Mod Sun, he shares that “Stay Away” is his “favorite song” he’s “ever released.”

Now, Mod Sun and Machine Gun Kelly have teamed up for both a new rendition of “Stay Away” and a new video. Shot by Sam Cahill, the “Stay Away (Piano Version)” video was filmed in Mod Sun’s studio.

With just a piano and guitar, both MGK and Mod Sun have managed to recreate the song into something completely new. Instead of a high energy sound, “Stay Away (Piano Verison)” greatly highlights the song’s vulnerable lyrics.

As Mod Sun shares on Twitter, the new rendition is meant to be emotional.

Along with the release of “Stay Away (Piano Version),” MGK recently teased a new song during his Good Morning America performance. With the help of blink-182‘s Travis Barker, they performed a clip of the new track called “Concert For Aliens.” The song is off of MGK’s forthcoming album Tickets To My Downfall and will be released on Aug. 5.
