Yesterday iTunes debuted a new trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones. The film, which is based on the book of the same name by Cassandra Clare, could be the next big YA-book-series turned mega-movie-franchise if it does well at the box office (cf. Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games).
The Mortal Instruments follows Clary Fray (played by Lily Collins), a seemingly normal teenager living in New York City whose life is thrown into not-so-normal territory when she learns she is a descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret organization of young half-angel warriors who protect our world from demons. When her mother disappears, Clary teams up with Jace Wayland (played by Jamie Campbell Bower, who you may recognize as Caius from the Twilight movies) and some fellow Shadowhunters. Jace introduces her to Downworld, an alternate New York filled with demons, warlocks, vampires and other generally creepy creatures.
The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones opens nationwide August 23.
