The Mötley Crüe and MGK collab for ‘The Dirt’ is coming very soon

The Mötley Crüe and Machine Gun Kelly collaboration for The Dirt is coming sooner than we thought.

MGK, real name Colson Baker, will be playing drummer Tommy Lee. It was recently revealed the rapper would join the band for a track for biopic based off the group memoir from 2001.

Now, we know the track will premiere Feb 21 on “Jonesy’s Jukebox” on 95.5 KLOS station in Los Angeles, the radio show for Sex Pistols’ guitarist Steve Jones.

Bassist Nikki Sixx launched a Q&A on his Twitter account, when a fan asked, “The question for me is, do you guys have a song that features MGK since he’s in the film and makes his living in music too?”

Sixx responded with a tease, relaying, “Yes. New song with MGK is coming really soon.We wrote the song for #TheDirtMovie”

Mötley Crüe will be releasing three other songs for the soundtrack aside from the collaboration.

MGK was cast as Lee early last year. He joins Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), Daniel Webber (The Punisher) and Douglas Booth who will portray guitarist Mick Mars, singer Vince Neil and bassist Nikki Sixx respectively.

Last month, the rapper opened up about what it was like playing Lee in the upcoming film based on the band’s wild past. MGK spoke to Billboard about what the book meant to him growing up and what it was like embodying a character as big as Lee.

He told Billboard that The Dirt was his “Bible” when he was 13-years-old. However, he now realizes that he might have had the “wrong idols” growing up.

“When you’re 13, you don’t really understand problems too much, so you’re just looking at all the things that glitter. It wasn’t until we were on set and doing these scenes that we were like, ‘Whoa, this is dark. What are people going to think about this?’ the Cleveland rapper said. “But there’s something about the truth in that book — the fact that you do fall in love with these people [who] then do this giant nose dive into this dark place.”

The Dirt will be released via Netflix on March 22.
