Announced today (June 21) via Deadline, MTV will be bringing back some of their most beloved programmings, including a special reboot of their 1990s animated classic Daria.

Details of the new show are scarce, but we do know that the new series is set to be called Daria & Jodie.

The official synopsis to the new series reads as follows:

The iconic animated franchise is reinvented through the eyes of heroine Daria Morgendorffer and one of her closest friends Jodie Landon. These two smart young women take on the world, with their signature satirical voice while deconstructing popular culture, social classes, gender, and race.

The new Daria series is set to be written by Grace Edwards, who has worked on shows like Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt and Inside Amy Schumer.

The forthcoming reboot is due to the creation of MTV’s new production house called MTV Studios. According to Deadline, the goal of the new production house is to revive some of MTV’s classic shows.

In addition the remake of Daria, MTV Studios will also be bringing back the Real World, MADE, and the anime series Aeon Flux, which is set to be recreated as a live action show.

We’re not entirely sure when the reboot will be out, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for further details.
