Here’s who won the Best Rock and Alternative awards at the MTV VMAs

Coldplay won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video for their song “Orphans.” 

The band beat out blink-182 (“Happy Days”), Evanescence (“Wasted on You”), Green Day (“Oh Yeah!”), Fall Out Boy feat. Wycleaf Jean (“Dear Future Self (Hands Up)”) and the Killers (“Caution”) during the August 30 award show.

Earlier in the night, Machine Gun Kelly received the award for Best Alternative for his song “Bloody Valentine.” 

The “bloody valentine” music video, which co-stars Megan Fox, went up against the 1975 (“If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)”), All Time Low (“Some Kind Of Disaster”), FINNEAS (“Let’s Fall in Love for the Night”), Lana Del Rey (“Doin’ Time”) and twenty one pilots (“Level of Concern”) in the category.

MGK took to Twitter after his win to thank fans.

“THIS IS THE BEST TWEET IVE EVER GOT!!!! where are the fans at, i’m coming to your fuckn living rooms right now to hug everybody !!,” he tweeted.

“they didn’t play my acceptance speech on TV but i saw someone posted the whole thing online if u wanna see ***i was nervous and shocked anyways BUT…***,” he continued.
