MTV's 'Real World' set to return to San Francisco

“Seven strangers, picked to live in a house and have their lives taped.”

Chances are if you've watched MTV in the last 17 years, you recognize that as a line from the opening credits of The Real World.

The groundbreaking reality show has taken audiences to New York, Las Vegas, Paris, London, the Virgin Islands, Australia and dozens of other locales, but for their 29th season (yes, you read that right) The Real World will return to San Francisco. MTV first visited the city in 1994 for the show's third season. During that season, viewers were introduced to castmate Pedro Zamora, one of the first openly gay men with AIDS to be portrayed in popular media. Zamora died from complications from AIDS November 11, 1994, the day after the final episode of The Real World: San Francisco aired.

The 29th season will air next year.
