Here’s how to see MxPx play some songs live for the first time
Like everyone reading this, pop-punk legends MxPx are tired of waiting for the world to open back up. Live shows, in-person meet and greets and tours are out of the question for now, but the band are proudly taking matters into their own hands.
Playing their first full-band show since the coronavirus pandemic began, MxPx are hosting a DIY livestream event Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. PT.

The self-proclaimed “new chapter” is being called “Between This World And The Next,” and MxPx assure their die-hard listeners via an Instagram teaser that this is only round one.
“Join us as we play live to the entire world over the internet!” bassist/vocalist Mike Herrera exclusively tells Alternative Press. “No stage, no waiting in lines, no traffic—just real people playing real music. This is a new, fun and different way to see us play music alongside regular in-person concerts. We’re gonna build and grow with this and hope you will be there with us.
“You’ll get to see us do new music, songs we’ve never ever played live and some fan favorites too! Pushing the envelope is our middle name. And yes, this is a music show, and it’s live, so anything could happen. Where did Yuri [Ruley], our drummer, disappear to? Maybe just the bathroom, but my point is, it’s gonna be 100% live. This is a new way to experience MxPx playing music and hanging with each other live on camera. Find us between this world and the next.”

Despite everything going on in the world (and the next), 2020 has been quite busy for the group. Over the past few months, MxPx released a deluxe version of 2018’s self-titled record and a new single and video called “Worries.”
In addition, the band put out a 30-song acoustic record in July called Life In Quarantine with all of your favorite hits from their extensive 28-year career. Herrera recorded the live album during his weekly acoustic guitar livestreams in April and May. The band followed up the quarantine session with a brand-new single “Fever Dream” that same month.
Friday’s show will certainly contain a bunch of full-band gems from those records and many, many more. And so the holiday season starts a tad bit earlier this year.
