My Chemical Romance perform “A summoning...” in new video

My Chemical Romance have been keeping us all on our toes with the release of teaser after teaser. Just over 12 hours ago, the band dropped a 55-second clip titled MCRXX. Released hours after the sigil-filled one sparked a U.S. tour theory, fans immediately began speculating what it could mean.

Now, as planned, the band dropped the full video at 11:45 a.m. ET, revealing “A summoning…”

With the original teaser, the band shared the hashtag #MCRXX, which is similar to their 2016 post, MCRX. That post launched a whole different slew of premature reunion theories. The band soon clarified that it wasn’t a reunion (at least not yet) and just a 10-year anniversary reissue of The Black Parade. The symbol used with the MCRX logo also had comparisons drawn to the symbol on the skeleton figure’s cloak in the “An Offering…” U.K. show announcement, sparking plenty of theories in the MCRmy.

Fans immediately began reacting and speculating what My Chemical Romance are up to. Some recalled an Instagram post shared earlier this month from the set of a music video, hashtagged as #musicvideolife. While not confirmed this is for MCR, the cloak and pentagram are pretty spot on with the MCRXX teaser.

Now, the video is finally here. Directed by Kris Mercado, who also was involved with “An Offering…,” the new clip was created and executive produced by Gerard Way and Brian Schechter. Starring Marcos Garcia, the music was composed by Ray Toro and keyboardist Jamie Muhoberac.

The new clip features the sigil Way wore for the band’s return show and the Draculoids from the Danger Days era. It also makes nods to vampires and the “Ghost Of You” video as well as the Demolition Lovers and the ballerina from “Helena.” Check it out here or below.

UPDATE: JAN. 29, 2020, 12:10 P.M. ET: The band have announced their first U.S. tour in nine years. Head here for dates.

More on My Chemical Romance

Yesterday, the band shared a different teaser following a slew of European gigs announced earlier this week (including a third U.K. show). In mid-January, the band finally resolved the cryptic-U.K. teasing by releasing a short film titled “An Offering…” Starring a previously introduced skeleton figure, the clip includes music many believe to be part of a to-be-announced project with potentially more to come.

Ahead of that reveal, the band posted flipped imagery where the skull was being used as the caption while a U.K. flag hid among an array of symbols. All of the imagery further supports theories surrounding a Wicca-inspired new era, and now its continuing to be backed.

The new short teaser cycled through more symbols. These ones appear to be sigils much like the one frontman Gerard Way wore for the band’s return show. However, fans have begun decoding them and discovering they might be cities such as Chicago.

Twitter user suckmydanzigdck decoded many of the sigils starting with Chicago. Since the reveal, they’ve uncovered Los Angeles, Dallas, Brooklyn, Toronto, Atlanta. Other users in the replies decoded Tacoma, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston, Sacramento, Detroit and Denver. You can see the full thread here or below.

The band’s teasers come amid speculation of U.S. tour dates first rumored the day they announced their return. When announcing their only U.S. reunion show in Los Angeles for December, several sources confirmed with AltPress that a tour will reportedly happen in the U.S.

Two weeks ago, the band fueled hopes with the Dangers Days teaser by captioning it with an American flag. Now, rumors are flying on Reddit that a tour will be announced today, according to an anonymous Live Nation source.

That statement comes after a Dallas venue allegedly leaked My Chemical Romance would be playing Sept. 30. The American Airlines Center reportedly posted and immediately deleted a parking package option for the gig. Shortly after, a radio DJ in Houston allegedly did the same by announcing the gig on-air. Despite better judgment, the personality proceeded in promoting a ticket giveaway for a Sept. 29 show at the Toyota Center.

However, that’s not the only thing in the clip. Hidden within the static, a couple can be seen facing a cross about halfway through.

Many fans took to Twitter to say they felt it could be the Demolition Lovers, who are referenced in the closing track of I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. The couple also iconically appear on the cover of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. The duo also return in a photographic form on the cover of Life On The Murder Scene.

The appearance follows past teases alluding to other album imagery such as the Danger Days car and the Bullets meets “Welcome To The Black Parade” hospital room.
